Anusara Classes. Anusara is known as the "Yoga of Yes" - it is a fun and rich style of yoga that blends the Tantric ideas of intrinsic goodness into the physical practice of yoga. In an Anusara class the teacher will begin the class with a short centering, chant and intention for the class. Individual classes will vary from normal room temperature to warm; more vigorous to more basic and all classes will include a combination of flow/vinyasa and longer holds. You'll enjoy knowing the personalities of the teachers and fellow students as you explore your own practice.
Flow
An active class which links poses together with the breath by combining sequences through fluid movements called vinyasa. The vinysasa movements generate heat through the body. Strength-building asanas (postures) are creatively fused with rhythmic sequences to open the body and nourish the spirit. Classes range from Level 1 flow to Level 3 flow. More challenging poses and a warmer room are part of the level 2/3 flow classes.
Yoga to the Core (level 2/3)
Awaken your core and connect with your internal "life force" as we combine a moving yoga practice that focuses on strengthening the core. Develop stronger, toned abdominals, improve posture, feel lighter, taller and leaner. A blend of slow sun salutations with upper body strengtheners, core work and pranayama (breathwork). Learn how to tap into your core during your yoga practice and feel lighter and stronger. Feel lighter and fluid! Come on an empty stomach.
Restorative and Yoga Nidra (all levels)
In this transformative class we use props to allow a deep opening and relaxation in the body releasing stress and stored toxins. This class utilizes several different techniques including Yoga Nidra, breathwork, and restorative postures. In the state of Yoga Nidra, tension is released from the body on a physical level, and the mind completely switches off bringing the body into balance. Restorative poses offer benefits to both the body and mind, for conditions including: insomnia, asthma, chronic pain, migraines and depression. Enjoy this class full of balance and bliss. This class meets monthly on Saturdays from 3:00-4:15 pm. Next class is Saturday, April 9.
Restorative Yoga (all levels)
Fully supported and passive yoga poses that allow gravity to do the work for you while using the breath to encourage a deep opening in the body & creating space within. Restorative Yoga allows you to let go of any held tensions, anxiety and stress. Highly recommended for everyone!
Yin (all levels)
A passive, yet deep practice that works to open the body slowly with grounding postures and long holds. Expect to leave class feeling expansive, relaxed and revitalized. All levels are welcome.
Yin and Yang (level 2/3)
A balanced practice beginning with an hour of yin to open the body in deep, yet passive postures with long holds followed by an hour of vinyasa flow (yang) to strengthen, tone and sweat. This class is offered as a special treat to our students once a month from 5:00-7:00 pm. No additional fees to attend this two hours of bliss.
Prenatal
Enjoy a class that helps you prepare for this wonderful life change with other women sharing this wonder.
Baby and Me (all levels) Bring baby along as you connect with other new moms and dads and help your body recover from birth and the strains of carrying and nursing a newborn. Come for the exercise, the fun and the supportive community. Babies from birth to crawling are welcomed with smiles. No prior yoga experience necessary. Class offered on Tuesdays from 12:00-12:45. What to bring: a receiving blanket, any toys your child likes, and anything to keep your baby happy. Carseats and bumbo seats are welcome!
